What Are The Differences Between Mama Koala Pocket Diaper 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0?
For a little while now we have been preparing for something BIG and it is coming SOON! Well, what is this something big? It’s a new product - Mama Koala Pocket Diaper 3.0!
Our team has been on social media posting updates regarding this new product. With the help of many cloth diapering parents in our community, we have been getting invaluable feedback, learning, making changes, and growing. Huge thanks to you guys! After rounds of poll and product tests, it’s finally coming! We are thrilled to announce that Mama Koala Pocket Diaper 3.0 will be launched on November, 9th!
In this blog post, to help you make an informed cloth diaper decision, we will reveal the new features of Pocket Diaper 3.0 and compare Pocket Diaper 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 side by side.
Mama Koala pocket diapers are all designed in one-size, which means they are made to fit a wide range of sizes (this is why they are called one-size-fits-most or OSFM) and snaps help make this one item incredibly adjustable and customizable.
Pocket Diaper 1.0 vs 2.0
1. Features in common:
◆ Both Pocket Diaper 1.0 and 2.0 have a breathable waterproof TPU outer (④ in the illustrations below) and an Inner Lining (⑥). Those two parts form a pocket with a big back opening (②), which makes it easier to stuff or remove inserts (①). There is a flap covering the opening, which will keep the inserts from peeking out or being soiled.
◆ All snaps (③) on Mama Koala cloth diapers are customized and carved with the Mama Koala logo.
◆ Gentle elastics (⑤) around the thighs and at the pocket opening will prevent leaks and hold all messes well inside.
2. New features on Pocket Diaper 2.0:
◆ Hip snaps on the tabs will help prevent the front panel from drooping, and also help in achieving a snug fit around the baby’s legs (refer to the following picture).
◆ Crossover snaps (or dirty closure snaps) will keep the diapers closed when not in use - either for clean diapers in your stash or for soiled ones in the diaper pail. Also, those snaps will provide a newborn baby/slim baby with a snug and trim fit around the waist.
◆ At the front of pocket diaper 2.0, there is a strip of PUL on the inside which is called a tummy panel. It will prevent the babies from leaking and wicking at the belly.
◆ Rise snaps: Pocket Diaper 2.0 is designed with 3x4 rise snaps while Pocket Diaper 1.0 is with 3x3 rise snaps.
◆ Size: As you can see in the following illustrations, Pocket Diaper 2.0 is bigger than the 1.0s. We recommend Pocket Diaper 1.0 for babies between 8lbs and 30lbs. Though Pocket Diaper 2.0 works well for many babies over 35lbs in our community, we recommend it for babies between 8lbs and 33lbs. Because the diaper fit mainly depends on body shape. We noticed in the same weight, the babies who are chunky around the waist will overgrow our diapers earlier than the slim ones.
◆ Closure: Besides snap closure, Hook & Loop closure is also available in Pocket Diaper 2.0. Head to our Blog Post and see a detailed comparison between them.

◆ Inner lining fabrics: Pocket diaper 2.0 is designed with 3 different inner linings, i.e. AWJ (Athletic Wicking Jersey), suede cloth, and bamboo. What are the differences? You will see the answers in our blog post below.

Pocket Diaper 3.0 vs 2.0
Since the launch of Mama Koala Pocket Diapers 2.0, we got much positive feedback from our customers and retailers. We were thrilled this new product will provide more babies with much room and a better fit. However, based on communication with our customers and the tracking of product customer satisfaction, we noticed, that in the last two years, our customer base is changing gradually. There are more and more chunky babies and they have outgrown the Pocket Diapers 2.0. Then we realized it was time for a change.
As you can see in the following pictures, Pocket Diaper 3.0 is upgraded on the basis of our Pocket Diaper 2.0. The main update is about Snap Configuration. With slanted cross-over snaps and waist snaps, this new product will provide babies with much room around the waist and thighs, be flexible enough to fit both slim babies and chunky babies, and take your cloth diapering experience to the next level!
We listed out some genuine feedback from our customers and product testers. We are so grateful for those kind words and cute on the bum photos. We hope they will help you to have a better understanding of this new product.
