How to use cloth wipes？
You can use a pre-mixed wipe solution or plain water in a little spray bottle to wet your cloth wipe before use.
Also, you can put your wipes in a small container (such as an empty disposable wipes container, or a small wet bag) and pre-wet them with a wipe solution of your choice in the container so they’re always ready for use. Just make sure to clean the container and replace the wipes regularly to avoid bacteria growth. Those two methods are good options for using cloth wipes on the go as well.
At home, you can keep your wipes in the bathroom near the changing table and wet them with warm tap water. It will make the wipes a nice temperature for the baby before use. This method is simple and very gentle on the sensitive skin of newborns.
One of the great things about washable cloth wipes is their versatility. You can use them wet or dry, depending on your preference and needs. If you prefer a dry wipe, use it as is. The choice is yours!
How to wash cloth wipes?
Prepping before first use: It's important to prep them to remove any impurities and increase the absorbency. Simply toss them in the washing machine with a cloth diaper friendly detergent and let them air dry. This will ensure that your wipes are clean and ready for use.
Wipes used for diaper changing: Shake off the poo (if it's there) into the toilet, place them in your wet bag/diaper pail along with your used cloth diapers, and then wash everything together on laundry day. If residue is left on the wipes, you can rinse/spray them after diaper changing or before washing.
Wipes used for cleaning hands and face: You can wash them in any normal laundry cycle.
Air dry your cotton cloth wipes to maintain their softness and effectiveness. Please don't use fabric softeners because they will reduce the absorbency of the cloth wipes.
How many cloth wipes will you need?
It depends on several factors. Do you use them for diaper changing only? How many days you will go between washes? How many wipes will you use for each diaper change?
For newborns, you will expect to change about 10-12 cloth diapers a day. It will reduce as babies grow. Normally you will need 1 piece for a pee and 1-2 for a poo. We recommend starting with 30-36 pieces for washing every other day. You will need more if you want to have some separately for cleaning the baby's hands & face.
Storage
To store dry cloth wipes, you can stack them up and place them in a drawer, shelf or disposable wipe container. Wet wipes should be stored in a closed container.
